Transparency Β· Month 2

Freedomia β€” expanding privacy 🧑

Today marks exactly 2 months since we launched Freedomia, coinciding with the Watch Out Bitcoin 2025 event on October 3rd, 4th and 5th in Madrid. Just like I did last month, I'm sending you Freedomia's transparency report.

Freedomia is not just a card: it's a tool so you can spend your money without turning your life into a data product.

For me, these 2 months have felt like an eternity and, at the same time, nothing. The project is still very young, but the community that has grown around it is amazing: the Telegram group keeps growing, you help each other, share privacy tips and find bugs before I do.

This November I've been traveling around half the planet and was able to test Freedomia in Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Andorra, Japan and Hong Kong, paying completely normally. What surprised me the most was Japan, where many shops either didn't accept cards, or didn't allow contactless payment. Still, Freedomia worked without issues wherever cards were accepted.

In summary: the project is small, but the usage is 100% real. And that's thanks to you, Freedomita. πŸ™Œ

Remember that you'll receive a transparency email every month. If you don't want to receive them: App β†’ Settings β†’ Account β†’ Notifications β†’ Fer's emails or use the link at the end of this email.

πŸ“Š November Metrics

The numbers are still modest at "fintech" scale, but huge for a project radically focused on privacy and without massive marketing. Step by step, Freedomia is being built through real usage.

πŸš€ November Updates

Despite the travels, we haven't stopped launching new things. The most important ones:

  • OTP codes (3DS) by email, without needing to give your phone number.
  • New available balance system and alerts for rejected transactions and low balance.
  • FX fee reduced to 2.5%.
  • New deposit tokens: rBTC (Rootstock) and LTC (Litecoin).
  • Full TOR support with our own Onion address for maximum privacy.

1️⃣ OTP codes by email (3DS without phone)

We've activated a new system to receive 3DS OTP codes by email instead of SMS. This allows you to use Freedomia even if:

  • You don't have a private mobile number.
  • You don't want to link your personal number to payments and cards.

The system works like this: all SMS are received on a single number, processed based on the last 4 digits of your card and the OTP code is forwarded to your email.

You can find the full explanation in this Telegram message:
https://t.me/Freedomia_io/1/1023

2️⃣ Available balance and new alert system

On the card details page we've added a new visualization system for available limits: you can clearly see the configured amounts, what you've already used and your remaining available balance per period (daily, weekly and monthly).

You can see it at: https://www.freedomia.io/card, in the "Spending Limits (Card Limits)" section.

During October there were a total of 66 rejected transactions mainly for two reasons:

  • Not having enough balance on the card.
  • Exceeding the configured daily or weekly limit.

In November that number rose to 321 rejected transactions for the same reasons. In other words: you're really using the card, and sometimes you push it so hard you hit the limits. πŸ˜…

For those of us who forget to top up or adjust those limits, we've created an alert system:

  • Email when your available balance drops below a threshold you choose.
  • Immediate email when a transaction is rejected, with the specific reason.

Most rejections are due to insufficient balance. Many times we try to pay 2 or 3 times without knowing what's happening. Now you'll receive an email instantly explaining why it was rejected.

You can find all the details in this Telegram message:
https://t.me/Freedomia_io/1/1446

3️⃣ FX Fee reduced to 2.5%

Good news: we've managed to get the payment processor to reduce the exchange rate from 3% to 2.5% on transactions.

It's not perfect, but it's another step in the right direction. To keep lowering that fee we need more users and more transaction volume. The stronger the Freedomita community, the better we can negotiate.

In the Telegram group I also explained how exchange systems work on POS terminals and why it's almost always better to select the local currency instead of USD if given the option:
https://t.me/Freedomia_io/1/1440

4️⃣ New tokens allowed for deposits

By request of several Freedomitas, in November we've added as deposit options:

  • rBTC (Bitcoin on Rootstock)
  • LTC (Litecoin)

We still need to properly study the best way to allow deposits with Monero (XMR), which is by far the most requested option besides the existing ones. It will come, but we want to do it right.

5️⃣ More privacy with TOR and Onion address

This month we've added full support for TOR with our own .onion address:

freedomiacwwmmizlgpgukdhkgxcrqn5khcvrvh3feds4wkff63uswad.onion

Now you can use all features of the Freedomia app through the TOR network, for an extra level of privacy and censorship resistance.

The explanation from when we launched it is in this message:

πŸ’³ Deposits and real Freedomia usage

During this period, a total of 630 deposits were made to Freedomia, distributed as follows:

Deposit type Quantity
Deposits via SideShift 452
Direct deposits on Polygon (USDC/USDT) 178
Total 630

Approximately 72% of deposits come via SideShift and 28% directly on Polygon. Multi-chain for real, not just marketing.

If we look only at the 452 deposits through SideShift, the breakdown by network used is:

Network Deposits % approx.
Liquid11325.0%
Bitcoin10623.5%
Ethereum7616.8%
BSC327.1%
Tron306.6%
Base296.4%
Arbitrum286.2%
Solana265.8%
Litecoin51.1%
Sui30.7%
Rootstock20.4%
Optimism10.2%
HyperEVM10.2%
Total 452 ~100%

This confirms something important: Freedomia is already being used from many different chains, not just Bitcoin on-chain. This is exactly what we were looking for: letting you spend from wherever you have liquidity.

πŸ–₯️ Current Freedomia Infrastructure

Several Freedomitas have asked me about the technical infrastructure behind Freedomia. As of today, we use the following:

  • 1 Droplet on Digital Ocean with 2 GB RAM and 1 vCPU, at a cost of $16/month.
  • 1 node on LunaNode for BTCPay Server, size m.4 with 4 GB RAM and 2 vCPUs, for $14/month.
  • 1 email sending service with Postmark, up to 10,000 emails/month for $15/month.

All very far from the massive infrastructure of a traditional bank, but sufficient and efficient for what we're building right now.

🀝 What do you want to see in Freedomia?

I love it when you write to me with real ideas and needs, because many of the things we're building come directly from the community.

Some of the requests that have already come up:

  • Top up with Monero (XMR).
  • Receiving alerts (low balance, rejected transactions…) also through a Telegram bot, not just by email.

And you, what would you like to see?
You can reply directly to this email or join the Telegram group and share your ideas with the rest of the Freedomitas.

Thank you again for being here from the beginning. I'm not building a company to maximize a spreadsheet; I'm building a tool for people who value their freedom.

Governments want total traceability. Banks want data. We want something much simpler: for you to be able to live and pay without asking permission.

Freedom is not negotiated, it's practiced. And we're practicing it, one top-up and one private transaction at a time.
